About Kuwait Airways

The Middle East's Trusted Airline

Established in 1952 after the oil boom, Kuwait Airways's excellent customer relations and premium flight services are still going strong today. The company's inaugural flight was in March 1954 and in the first year, the airline serviced almost 9,000 passengers, taking them to destinations across the Middle East. Originally formed by businessmen and 50% government owned, the airline has grown through a series of successful acquisitions and has always stayed ahead of the game. They were the first airline to acquire the new Comet C3s in 1962. Two years later, destinations expanded to include Germany, India, Egypt, and Iraq. Now the company flies to over 35 destinations across the country and to the USA, Europe, and Asia.

Kuwait Airways operates 3 nonstop flights per week from New York (JFK) to Kuwait, and 3 more direct flights per week via London Heathrow. The airline serves over a dozen cities in the Middle East plus 10 more in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. In addition to providing service to larger Indian cities such as Delhi, Mumbai (Bombay), and Chennai (Madras). Kuwait Airways also flies to smaller gateways in the country including Kochi (Cochin), Ahmedabad, and Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum). As of 2017, the airline is completely government owned.

Today, the company employs more than 5,000 people and prides itself on being a catalyst for change in both the Kuwaiti economy and the lives of people in the communities they serve. Kuwait Airways has codeshare partnerships with international airlines to expand their service to Africa and bridge the gap between the East and the West.

The current fleet consists of 29 planes, all airbuses or Boeing aircraft. The acquisition of new jetliners has helped bring the company's image into the 21st Century and moving forward, the airline vows to continue its record of excellent customer service and passenger safety.
