CityJet: The airline of choice for business people

In 1992, Pat Byrne established CityJet, which began flying between London and Dublin Airport as part of a Virgin Atlantic Franchise. By 1997, the airline was flying the route under its own identity and operating the London to Paris route on behalf of Air France. Air France went on to buy a 25% stake in the Irish airline, and in the years following, a complex round of takeover deals between Air France and other European airlines contributed to the changing fortunes of CityJet. In 2014, a number of investors helped Pat Byrne to buy back the airline and to successfully rebrand it into the airline it is today!

Today, the airline runs a fleet of Avro, Bombardier and Sukhoi jets (36 in total), with a passenger capacity of over one million flights per year. Its hubs include London, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Helsinki airports. From Dublin and London City airports, it flies to eighteen destinations, including Antwerp, Amsterdam, Avignon, and Florence. In addition to scheduled services, the airline operates a chartered service for private flights that transport personnel for the entertainment and sporting industries. It also operates a wet-lease service on behalf of Scandinavian Airlines and Air France. With plans to purchase more jets, the future of the airline looks bright.
