Fly with Aer Lingus

Aer Lingus (which literally translates from Gaelic as 'air fleet') is the flag-carrying airline of the Republic of Ireland. Founded in 1936 and once the property of the Irish government, it is now privatized and a subsidiary of the International Airlines Group. The head office and main hub of Aer Lingus are at Dublin Airport. Aer Lingus was a founding member of the Oneworld alliance, although it left this group in 2007. Today, the airline operates codeshare flights with members of Oneworld, Star Alliance, and Sky Team airlines, as well as with United Airlines, JetBlue Airways, and Etihad Airways.

Aer Lingus operates a 'small frills' approach to passenger travel that blends the models of a traditional legacy airline and a low-cost carrier. This is evident in the different services offered on short-haul and long-haul flights. The Aer Lingus fleet comprises mainly Airbus A320-200 and Airbus A330-300 aircraft. A new livery was unveiled in January 2019 consisting of a white fuselage with teal green engines. Aircraft tails are teal green, finished with the traditional shamrock.

Aer Lingus Travel Experience

Aer Lingus operates what it calls a 'hybrid business model,' with a mixture of fares and services spread across its European routes. Some European routes are seasonal. Across all aircraft and ticket classes, seats are comfortable with pitches that range from 29" to 32".

Aer Lingus Economy Class

On year-round European routes, onboard facilities include the sale of food and drinks, while seasonal flights also offer in-seat personal screens and power outlets. On flights to North America, Economy Class tickets include complimentary meals and soft drinks as well as one alcoholic drink. There are in-seat personal screens and power outlets, while complimentary WiFi is also available.

Aer Lingus Premium Economy Class

This offers the same services as Economy bookings on European flights, along with a choice of AerSpace tickets. AerSpace gives more space to work and relax, as the middle seat of each row of three is always empty. AerSpace also comes with complimentary drinks, snacks, and reserved luggage space in the overhead locker.

Aer Lingus Business Class

Business Class is available on long-haul North American flights only. Depending on the aircraft there are three different seat types, all of which convert to lie-flat beds. Other services include complimentary meals, drinks, in-seat personal screens, power outlets, and complimentary WiFi. Business Class passengers also have access to Aer Lingus lounges at Dublin and New York at JFK airport.

Aer Lingus Travel Experience

Passengers can check-in online within 30 days of European flights. The closure of online check-in varies from 8.5 hours for flights to Spain and Portugal to two hours for flights to Ireland, the UK, and Amsterdam. Online check-in for transatlantic flights is open from 24-hours to two hours before departure. The closure of boarding gates varies from flight to flight and airport to airport, so always check this when planning your journey to the departure airport.
