Precision Air is a Tanzanian passenger airline which operates out of Julius Nyerere Airport in Dar es Salaam (DAR). The airline predominantly operates within Tanzania, connecting the capital to cities like Arusha, Mtwara and Zanzibar, but also offers connections to the Kenyan capital Nairobi and Moroni in the Comoros Islands. Every year, its fleet of 10 ATR planes carry around 400,000 people to destinations across East Africa.
The airline was born in 1993 from a small private charter hire company. As the market for internal flights in Africa boomed and more tourists flocked to the beaches of the Indian Ocean coast, Precision saw an opportunity. Since then, it has become the country's most efficient airline. It's also one of the safest and most modern airlines in Africa, having become the first Tanzanian airline to pass the IATA Operational Safety Audit in 2006.
In 2012, Precision Air become the first airline in the world to operate ATR 42-600. Their current fleet consists of five 70 seater ATR 72-500, three 48 seater ATR 42-500, and one 48 seater ATR 42-600.
As well as flying within the East Africa region, Precision Air currently operates to Arusha, Bukoba, Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, Kahama, Kilimanjaro, Mtwara, Mwanza, Seronera, Tabora and Zanzibar in domestic Tanzania, and also operates regional flights to Nairobi, Kenya and Entebbe, Uganda.
There's are two classes of fare available from Precision: Economy and Business Class. Everyone benefits from the same baggage allowance of 23 kg of checked luggage (as well as 10 kg and a collapsible buggy for babies who don't need a seat of their own). All passengers are also allowed to take on a range of personal items, including hand bags, walking sticks, an overcoat, a small camera, laptops or collapsible wheelchairs. Business Class travelers enjoy a few extra perks such as priority queueing and additional leg room.
All bookings can be processed online, and you can add extra features like car rental, hotel accommodation or airport taxis when you place your order. There's also a "deals and offers" section on the Precision website which features promotional deals on new routes.
Precision Air also participates in the PAA Royal loyalty scheme. This allows passengers to build up points on domestic and international flights with the airline's partners, which can be spent on flights, car rental and hotels if desired. There are four tiers, Jade, Silver, Gold and Tanzanite. As you ascend the tiers, you'll receive member benefits like extra excess baggage and priority baggage tags to ensure safe handling.
Precision Air allows travelers to check-in via the web, smoothing out the departure process. Just head to their website and pick the online check-in option. You'll need your PNR booking number to continue, after which you can print out your boarding pass and pick your seats.
