Things to do in Toronto

This is a bustling metropolis with skyscrapers at its heart, as well as plenty of urban green spaces including the Queen's Park and 400-acre High Park, with a zoo, sports facilities and walking trails. Being a tourist is easy here, with plenty of great things to see and do.

CN Tower

No trip here would be complete without a visit to the CN Tower, which stands at an imposing 553.33 metres high, dominating the landscape with its imposing height and shape. This was once the world's tallest tower and is still very impressive. If you're not worried by heights, head to the LookOut Level at 345 metres to marvel at the sweeping views over the city, or feel as though you're walking on air on the Glass Floor. For the best views, there's the outdoor SkyTerrace at 342 metres high, and even the SkyPod section at a vertigo inducing 447 metres above the city.

Royal Ontario Museum

As you'd expect from a city with a rich and varied heritage, Toronto has many museums, the most famous of which being the Royal Ontario Museum. There's a huge collection of historical and cultural items here and exhibitions including the Bata Shoe Museum, with over 13,500 pieces of footwear in the collection. Another focus of the museum is the fusion of natural history and world culture, making this an ideal destination for scholars from around the globe.

For Shopaholics

The popular CF Toronto Eaton Centre is a renowned Canadian landmark. With over 250 retailers, services and restaurants, the Eaton Centre has a stunning glass galleria and the famous Flight Stop (an installation of 60 fibreglass geese) attracs visitors too. No matter what your budget, you'll find everything here from clothing and jewellery to fine restaurants and fast food stops - not to mention personal shoppers and stylists to help you find that special outfit.

Art Gallery of Ontario

The Art Gallery of Ontario is a famous art museum in Toronto. The collection includes more than 80,000 pieces that hail from the first century right through to the present day. With 45,000 square metres of space, this is one of the largest galleries in North America. There are numerous significant displays here including the largest collection of Canadian art, a huge variety of pieces from the Baroque and Renaissance periods, and world art pieces. Other significant pieces include sculptures in the Henry Moore sculpture centre.

Hockey Hall of Fame

The Hockey Hall of Fame is dedicated to the heritage of Canada's most popular sport, ice hockey, and features a hall of fame area and a museum. There are exhibits about individual players, NHL records, memorabilia, NHL trophies and teams. The Hockey Hall of Fame has 15 separate display areas that cover 60,000 square feet. Fans of the sport will enjoy seeing memorabilia including clothing worn by players during special games, famous trophies and equipment. There is also the Esso Great Hall, which features biographies and portrait pictures of every Hall of Fame honoree.
