Aeroméxico is the Mexican flag carrier and the largest airline in Mexico. Member of the SkyTeam Alliance and partnered with Delta Air Lines in the USA, this respected carrier has a growing reputation for reliability and service. The airline's logo is an eagle, representing the strength and courage of the Mexican people. Aeroméxico's aim is to be the biggest airline in South America with the best customer service.

Based in Terminal 2 at Mexico City International Airport, AeroMexico has been carrying passengers since 1934. It's currently rated as the best airline in Mexico by Global Traveler and operates more routes than any other carrier in Latin America. The airline has also been recognized as a socially responsible organization by Bolsa Mexican de Valores. The corporate headquarters is located in the Torre MAPFRE tower, just yards from the Mexican Stock Exchange building in the nation's capital.

Today, Aeroméxico operates services to more than 90 destinations, including several in Mexico, North America and Europe. Although the airline is the biggest in terms of international travel, it's currently second domestically - Volaris carries more passengers to Mexican destinations. In total, the airline flies more than 21 million passengers every year.

Aeroméxico has one of the most modern fleets in Latin America. The company operates nine Boeing Dreamliners to destinations around the world. The bulk of the fleet, however, is comprised of Boeing 737s, which primarily fly to domestic destinations. Shorter, shuttle-type services utilize smaller Embraer aircraft.

Aeroméxico operates a very successful loyalty scheme called Club Premier. The scheme is free to join and earns passengers Premier points every time they fly. Points are also earned when flying with any SkyTeam Alliance carrier. Points can be redeemed for flights, upgrades, vacation extras and a range of online purchases.

Aeroméxico Travel Classes

Aeroméxico offers a variety of seat pitches in its economy cabins, ranging from 79 cm (31 in) to 89 cm (35 in). Premium Economy cabins offer a seat pitch of 97 cm (38 in), and Business Class includes a seat pitch of 152 cm (60 in).

A basic Wi-Fi service is available for a small charge on most flights. But Aeroméxico has a dedicated app that allows passengers to watch new movies and TV shows on their mobile devices. There are also in-flight text and messaging services that are completely free to use.

As well as an economy cabin section, Aeroméxico offers an AM Plus option that allows passengers to sit near the front of the planes for extra legroom. This cabin class also includes SkyPriority services - akin to premium economy classes with other airlines. The business class cabin is called Clase Premier. Passengers are treated to reclining sleeper chairs, larger entertainment screens, LED mood lighting, extra legroom, dimmable windows and continual access to premium food options and bar drinks.

Aeroméxico Check-in & Baggage

Check-in for international flights opens 24 hours before international departure and 48 hours before domestic flights. Passengers flying to international destinations usually need to check-in at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Arrive at the airport three hours before departure for international flights.

Allowed Luggage per cabin in Aeroméxico

Business Class
Clase Premier passengers are given a checked baggage allowance of 32 kg (70 lbs), which can be split across up to two bags. The carry-on allowance for Clase Premier passengers is 10 kg (22 lbs).

Economy Class
Basic fare passengers don't have a baggage allowance with Aeroméxico, but they are allowed one small item of carry-on luggage. In the main cabin, the maximum checked baggage allowance is 25 kg (55 lbs). The maximum weight for carry-on items is 10 kg (22 lbs).

Allowed Luggage Size Dimensions

Each item of checked baggage must be no larger than 158 cm (62 inches) in total - the sum of the bag's width, depth and length. Carry-on luggage must be no larger than 55 x 40 x 25 cm (21.5 x 15.7 x 10 inches).

Additional Information

Significant charges are charged for oversized and overweight luggage. The excess fees are calculated both on the basis of additional weight and volume, and they depend on the passenger's final destination. A full breakdown of these charges is available on the Aeroméxico website.

Passengers travelling with children under three are allowed to take a small stroller on board the aircraft. This item must be handed to a flight attendant during the boarding process. Please note: the complimentary checked baggage allowance can vary, depending on the route.
