Tournament of Roses Parade (January)

Every year since 1980, the Tournament of Roses Parade has been something of a New Year's tradition. This New Year's Day event is broadcast to millions of viewers around the globe and involves over 40 elaborately-decorated floats, dozens of musical bands and groups of horses parading through downtown Pasadena.

Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire (April – May)

Between early April and mid-May each year, this historically-themed event occurs at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, attracting more than 200,000 people and featuring Renaissance-themed entertainment as well as music, food, costumes and dancers.

Battleship USS Iowa Memorial Day

At San Pedro each Memorial Day, the 16-inch main guns of the Battleship IOWA provide the backdrop to a moving tribute to the servicemen who lost their lives serving their country in combat. There are family-friendly musical performances, film screenings and tours of the ship.

Smorgasburg

Head to ROW DTLA to experience the huge weekly Sunday market Smorgasburg, a spinoff of the Brooklyn Flea Market. Foodies will delight in the huge range of gastronomical wonders on offer. There are foods from local businesses such as Raindrop Cake and Donut Friend, as well as stalls with clothing, furniture and homewares on sale too.
