American Airlines Checked Luggage

The total size of each checked baggage should not exceed a maximum dimension (total H + W + L) of 158 cm (62 in).
If the luggage exceeds 158 cm, it will be treated as "Oversize" and additional charge fee will be applied. Bags over 320 cm are not allowed for check-in.

American Airlines Carry-on Luggage

The sum of the three dimensions of the personal item or baggage can not exceed 115cm.
Any items travelers wish to carry onboard must fit in the overhead bin or under the passenger seat in front.
Diaper bags (1 per child), soft-sided cooler bags with breast milk, child safety seats, baby strollers, and medical/mobility devices do not count as your personal/carry-on

Please note:

  • Some items are restricted from cabin luggage depending on the route/destination. When traveling from the United States and Canada, for security purposes, checked and locked baggage may be opened during security checks. During high peak travel seasons, American Airlines will place limitations on checked bags and boxes on some flights. From June 1 through August 19, 2019 and December 17, 2019 through January 12, 2020, there are seasonal limitations.

  • Passengers traveling internationally with an infant(s)/infant on your lap are entitled to one piece for check-in. Each ticketed passenger is allowed 1 baby stroller and 1 car seat for check-in free of charge. If strollers are above 9 kgs, it must be checked-in at the counter. Any other stroller can be checked in at the gate. If you have a stroller and car seat only, 1 can be checked at the gate. Please remove all accessories attached to the stroller if it will be checked-in.

  • First and Business, Executive Platinum and oneworld Alliance Emerad members can check bags up to 32kgs at no extra cost.

  • The maximum weight of for "oversize baggage" is up to 45kgs and any baggage over this limit will not be accepted for carriage.
